TANZANIA’S HIDDEN CULTURE ON FOOT

This package takes you through some of the most a mazing sceneries and wildlife viewing experienced in the northern. The six days, seven nights are spent on hicks begging from Ngorongoro cater, through Olmoti crater and Empakia. From they’re a 4×4 vehicle will be waiting to take you to a days hike in Serengeti, through its vast plains and have a feel of the endless wonderings of the animal’s migration. The days spent wondering and the nights under the African stars makes the experience formidable. But wait, this great experience will not be complete without a hick at Lake Eyasi, home to some of Tanzania’s last standing bushmen and its hidden culture.

DAY 1 ARUSHA – NGORONGORO (NAINOKANOKA)

The driver/ guide from Safariland Adventures will pick you up at 8.00 hrs from your lodge in Arusha and drive you to Ngorongoro (Nainokanoka), where your hike begins. There is beautiful trail that follows around the rim of Olmoti crater and later walk to the Munge waterfalls which completes the day. Dinner and overnight will be spent at Nainokanoka village in the camp base.

DAY 2 MULKAT – VILLAGE

Todays hike; you will be escorted by Maasai warriors and armed rangers as the hike takes you deeper into bulbul depressions with wild animals. There will be donkeys guided by the Maasai caring the luggage and the picnic basket. This experiences most thrilling and exciting as you pass through a distant with wild animals. This walk takes anything from five to seven hours. Dinner and overnight will be at Mulkat village base camp.

DAY 3 EMPAKAI CRATER

Empakia is an extinct volcano at the north end of the Ngorongoro highlands. In your hike you will descend to the crater rim and get the most magnificent view of the soda lake, famous for flamingos, the reflection from the top makes it all pink which is a beautiful sight even before reaching too close to the lake. The walks take anything from six to seven hours, with regular breaks to take in the sight. Dinner and overnight will be spent at Empakia crater in a camp base.

DAY 4 – BACK TO NAINOKANOKA

The final day of the Ngorongoro hike takes you back to the Nainokanoka where the hike began. Here you take a different route back, which gives you a completely different feeling of the surroundings. The hike time is anything from 6-7 hours. Dinner and overnight will be spent at Simba camp sight in Ngorongoro highlands.

DAY 5 DESCEND TO THE CRATER – SERENGETI

On your last day at the Ngorongoro area you will be descending to the crater also seen as one of Tanzania’s pride. A driver/guide from Safariland Adventures will pick you up from the campsite, and begin your descend.
The crater is 610 meters deep, covering an area of 540 square kilometers. It is all the heaven to wild life, including the greatest predator population in Africa. The Volcanic crater is jam packed with wild life, including all the big 5 game. It is our hope that this place will not only amaze you with its vast scenery but you have a chance to see the last population of the black Rhino in Tanzania. Later in the afternoon, you will proceed to Serengeti, for dinner and overnight at Seronara campsite.

DAY 6 SERENGETI – LAKE EYASI

The Serengeti is one of the world’s most celebrated wilderness areas; this place will offer you a view of among nature’s greatest events, “The Great Migration”. In space of few weeks nearly 500,000 gawky youngsters of zebras, wildebeests, and gazelles within minutes of birth will stumble their feet’s to the endless wondering, here you will have a

chance to witness this great event. Later in the afternoon you will be driven to Lake Eyasi for dinner and overnight at Chem chem campsite.

DAY 7 HUNTING AND GATHERING WITH HADZABE -ARUSHA

Eyasi offers one of Africa’s last standing Bushmen communities. This place is for the truly adventurous and cultural enthusiasts, as it takes you back to the very cradle of human survival, ‘HUNTING and GATHERING’. Today you will spend time with the members of Hadzabe tribe who speak in click tongue. It is an early start of around 5.45 a.m., as you will be participating in the daily life of the Bushmen first hand. For the people not wishing to participate in hunting they can join gathering instead. Later you will whiteness the traditional dance of the tribesman and women. Later in the afternoon, you will be driven back to Arusha for dinner and overnight.
